New Mexico’s Fallen Soldiers (Dec 31 2005 17:59 GMT) - Bill Richardson Governor December 25, 2005 Governor Bill Richardson Honors Service Men and Women – Participates In Reading of Names of Fallen Soldiers SANTA FE - Governor Bill Richardson participated in a somber ceremony at the Bataan Memorial honoring New Mexico veterans and servicemen and women who are representing New Mexico and the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan. Governor Richardson was joined by several veterans and New Mexico dignitaries, including Congressman Tom Udall, Attorney General Patricia Madrid, Veterans Department Secretary John Garcia, National Guard Adjutant General Kenny Montoya, State Supreme Court Justice Patricio Serna and Santa Fe City Councilor Carol Robertson Lopez. Dignitaries lit ceremonial candles honoring the branches of the military and read the names of fallen soldiers who represented New Mexico in Iraq and Afghanistan. My mom's a real Kansas Republican, Freestater stock, who married a handsome West Pointer and blew out of the heartland at age 18. She had a great time in OZ...overall. |
