SFist Raves: We Don't Hate SBC anymore (Jan 19 2006 17:56 GMT) - And we so love the Power of the Blog! Do you remember, back in December we were ranting about SBC and how it had taken away our DSL and refused to discuss the implications of this with us, or indeed give any valid reasons for us being able to access DSL one day, before being forced to make do with dial up the next? We remember that Dark December well, it was a low point in our blogging life, heck we were having difficulty to even do any blogging via the archaic connection we were lumped with. But someone cool at SBC read the blog and put the wheels in motion to get the situation remedied for us. It was amazing. |

No decision has been made as to whether Primedia will engage in a transaction resulting in the sale of the Crafts Division, and there can be no assurance that any transaction will occur, or, if undertaken, the terms or timing of such a transaction. |

Banned Searches In Google And MSN (Jan 19 2006 17:56 GMT) - Someone who prefers to remains anonymous writes "Email Battles has noted in the past that some searches are blocked by Google. Now, they've uncovered another selection of terms that are verboten at both MSN and Google. Of course Google/MSN have their reasons for blocking these searches, but perhaps a bit of transparency is in order. It would be nice to know what searches the Gatekeepers prevent, and why." Last month we mentioned the fact that Google was blocking certain searches, though we thought it was a bit odd (and perhaps a tad on the evil side) that they were misleading people into thinking they had a virus for doing a "bad" search. |

We should learn from Active Record (Jan 19 2006 17:55 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - I've long been an ORM bigot. I tend to think ORM is the answer to questions that haven't even been asked yet. But a couple of months of Active Record development is changing the way I think about wrapping. We can learn from Ruby on Rails in this area. |

Archos XS202, Back in Black (Jan 19 2006 17:55 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - ... This is kind of weird, but seems Archos is putting out a black XS202 DAP, dubbed the XS202s. It's a bit thinner than the original and almost an ounce lighter, while battery life is being touted as up to 17 hours per charge. So to sum up, it's black, not silver, weighs a tiny bit less and looks slimmer— |

Sony Ericsson K800i Wilma (Jan 19 2006 17:55 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - We are taking all rumored shots of new Sony Ericsson phones with a grain of salt nowadays. Too many hoodlums out there thinking they will be funny and make mockups and try to pass them off as the real thing. Couple days after the initial Wilma photos surfaced we finally have some good high-res shots of this phone. The phone, modeled as the K800i (and codenamed Wilma for some reason) is reported to have a 3. |
