OV Slimming Club (by: fiona) (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - Well done Sheena and Jan, hope you are feeling better soon everyone else, and stop passing it round us all!! I managed to get back from the NEC despite leaving there at 6.30 in time to get to the last 20 mins of SW, and 1˝lbs off, so am well chuffed. Total loss 1st 5˝lbs, so hopefully am back on track. Early bed for everyone I think - I am still waiting for YD to come home and she has college tomorrow - was expecting her back at 8 and no contact by phone so far - and all I get is her answering machine. |

Driving standards slipped! (by: feathersonline) (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - We've just returned as well, and can say that in our opinion, the driving standards are about the same as they've been for all our previous trips. US drivers do seem to be more tolerant of other road users than drivers in the UK, and in the Orlando area especially, I think they are even more tolerant as they know there are many tourists driving around who don't know the area very well, and are likely to pull off an amazing stunt trying to cross from one lane to another or even a drastic u-turn, when they realise they are heading the wrong way!!! |

Waiting Times (by: JR1) (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - Hi If you have not heard yet - CHASE NOW! The embassy are notorious for not informing people even if they have received a response on your application. As a general guide, it is probably worth chasing the embassy after 8 weeks of waiting. |

North Korea: Kim Jong Il's Magical Mystery Tour of China (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - Afraid of flying, North Korea's Kim Jong Il stepped onto his armored special train to venture on a rare foreign trip. His nine-day tour of China's booming regions has left observers wondering what he was up to. Was the communist hardliner getting lessons in economic reforms? Was he discussing nuclear concessions? Or was he polishing his own image as his country's 'Dear Leader'? |

Vonage - I'm Cancelling my Vonage Service (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - I have both Sun Rocket and Vonage. SR does provide free phones, up to 100 minutes of overseas calling, two free directory assistance calling, no charge to change numbers, you may select your numbers from an available pool. There are plenty of blocking options, you can block your outgoing caller ID permanantly or change your outgoing caller ID info with a call and the online utilities function reliably. I took the 1 year option and it costs me $16.58 per month period - no add on fees or taxes I do read both the Vonage forums and the SR forums regularly and it looks to me like there is are plenty of sour comments on both Vonage and SR. |

Vonage - Anyone ever have voice delay? (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - Thanks for the link. It tested out at 183ms round trip latency, which is in normal range. I'll have to wait till I'm having one of those 'sattelite phone' days and try it again. I swear it's at least four seconds on the bad days. People have hung up on me right after they answer the phone, apparently thinking I must be a telemarketer. |

Vonage - WRT54GX4 and RTP300 (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - I found that you don't need to leave the firewall turned off. This appears to be a problem in the firmware. Just turn it off, save the settings and then turn it back on (save settings again). This should improve the voice quality. Until the router reboots, this should work. |

Vonage - Are there Vonage Technicians to come out and help set up? (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - Really vonage is so simple that even a novice user can install vonage I got a tip If you are running vonage on cable: (1)Take ethernet cord from cable modem into the internet port. It will have internet labeled on top of the port (2)Hook up any phone cable that hooks up your phone into your phone port (Phone1). The phone port is smaller then the ethernet port. (3)Wait for the dial tone and your done. |

Vonage - Anyone ever have voice delay? (Jan 24 2006 23:59 GMT) - It's caused by latency - the delay in the round trip of your message arriving and getting replied to by the other party. If you're using VoIP or mobile phones, you get more latency than when you use land lines. Longer-distance calls cause higher latency, too. You can test your latency with all sorts of tools (http://www. |
