Ubuntu faults (Jan 27 2006 23:58 GMT) - My transition to Ubuntu is going well, but here's a few things which irritate me: The devices for the synaptic touchpad and the usb mouse switch places depending on if the usb mouse is connected at boot time (and after waking up from sleeping). kensplace: Best and Worst Sites for Adsense (Online Marketing and Promotion) (Jan 27 2006 23:58 GMT) - No matter what the site, there will always be a percentage of people who just cannot stand ads in any form, and there will be people who dont mind them.Standard google ads are so common place that people are getting more used to them now, which has its pro's and cons. Its good as people are used to them and dont mind them as much, but it also leads to ad blindness as they see yet another similar ad, they switch off...The lucky few which have large budgets or massively popular sites can have customised google ads, that are different from what mere mortals have access to. |

Should You Not Pay Points On Your Mortgage? (Jan 27 2006 23:57 GMT) - Pre-paying points on your mortgage loan to get a lower interest rate is great if you can afford it, but what if you don’t have the cash? Is it always best to pre-pay interest with points? There are situations where pre-paying points is not the best thing to do. Points, called “origination fees” or “discount points” are equal to one percent of your total mortgage amount paid at the closing table. When you pre-pay points on the loan you are paying up front to get a lower interest rate. |

Republic day (Jan 27 2006 23:56 GMT) - Instead of a "Khadi kurta clad, clicking pictures getting pictures clicked in Parliament street", Republic day, this year saw me in a "non khadi, non parliament street wandering, clicking pictures all by myself" role. Here are the pictures of the Lotus temple aka Bahai temple - one of the prominent landmarks in Delhi today. |
