Delete Your Photos (Feb 13 2006 23:46 GMT) - Hey, look at that... you've taken 15 digital photos of the same thing - but 8 of them are blurry, and 2 of them aren't centered. Why do you insist on holding onto all 15 of those digital images? For all intents and purposes, you've taken 5 good photos that are incredibly similar to one another. I realize you have gigabytes of space, but that doesn't mean you should hold onto everything that scoots across your hard drive. |

Las Vegas: First Hooters Hotel Photos and Reviews (Feb 13 2006 23:45 GMT) - With the Hooters Casino Hotel's first weekend open to the public, came one completely dissatisfied guest. After some initial booking confusion concerning room type, rates and the dates of the stays, the guest arrived to find missing light bulbs, missing peephole, a stopped-up sink, tags from the old San Remo hotel still attached to the bed and drunks in the room next door.Things in the other part of the hotel were also not enjoyable for this guest: [G]uys in the lobby and out front of the hotel feel compelled to rate not only the help's but also any woman customer in the place's "Hooters". Sneaky Hotel Charges (Feb 13 2006 23:45 GMT) - We've written about sneaky hotel surcharges before and now Smart Money has gone and dissected your hotel check-out bill with a surgical scalpel. Some of the silly charges they found? You might pay a $100 deposit for a minibar (Hotel Chelsea in Miami Beach, Fla.), $2 a day in maid gratuity (Wyndham El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico), or a $5-a-night tourism fee to cover the hotel's contributions to a state fund promoting tourism (Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. |

Sunny Isles Beach: Another Hotel On Florida's Coast (Feb 13 2006 23:45 GMT) - A new hotel is hitting the Miami area, and just in time for spring break. But Sunny Isles Beach's newest addition, The Acqualine Resort is not your average spring break hotspot. The resort bills itself as an "oceanfront masterpiece," possibly because it is located on 400 feet of oceanfront property, or else because it is designed to look like an Italian palace-- think Baroque fountains, and columns. Obviously the place is a good choice for families with its various activities for children, and a swank swimming pool. For those skittish of kids, rest easy. |

San Diego: Water Main Bursts in San Diego (Feb 13 2006 23:45 GMT) - A water main broke over the weekend in San Diego's mission beach that flooded the streets and shut down water service in the area, including two hotels the Bahia Resort Hotel and Dana Inn.The cause of the break was most likely due to corrosion of the pipe from the old age, but the hotel guests had to have water wagons brought to them, which are essentially tanks full of water that you scoop out what you need. Not quite the romantic getaway some folks were counting on. Tokyo: Tokyo Hotel's New Allergy Treatment (Feb 13 2006 23:45 GMT) - If you were inspired by last week's "Escape from LA" and are headed to Tokyo, here's a little bit of information that may influence your lodgin decision.Allergy-suffering guests checking in at the Tokyu Inn in the business district of Shinbashi, will step into a phone booth-style box to have the pollen blown off their clothes by a high-powered air shower before going to their rooms. Additionally, windows will be kept closed, peppermint tea--which can alleviate symptoms--and a special spray to prevent pollen sticking to clothing will also be provided. We just think the Allergy Puff Daddy machine is the coolest part of it all.Related Stories: |

Phishing Site Using Valid SSL Certificates (Feb 13 2006 23:42 GMT) - UnderAttack writes to tell us the Washington Post SecurityFix blog has an interesting article about a new and rather sophisticated phishing scheme. The email not only used the first few digits of the users card number to look more plausible (even though the first part of the number is the same for all cards), but it also used a valid SSL certificate for its domain name." |

Meditation 0.5.2 (Default branch) (Feb 13 2006 23:41 GMT) - Meditation is a series of helper classes for PHP 5 that are used to facilitate the building of RESTful APIs for your Web applications. It was originally built because PHP doesn’t have very good handling for PUT and DELETE requests. It is designed to be an extremely lightweight framework and doesn't include things like XML parsing, template engines, or model view controllers. However, you should be able to hook it up to any buzzword compliant system you wish. License: |

Ultimate++ 602 beta2 (Default branch) (Feb 13 2006 23:41 GMT) - Ultimate++ is a cross-platform C++ rapid application development suite. It includes set of libraries (for things like GUI and SQL) and an integrated development environment. Rapid development is achieved by smart and aggressive use of C++ rather than through fancy code generators. In this respect, U++ competes with popular scripting languages while preserving C/C++ runtime characteristics. Its integrated development environment, TheIDE, introduces modular conception to C++ programming, and can be used to develop non-U++ applications. |
