Arbitron's Portable People Meter bags FCC approval (Oct 09 2006 23:55 GMT) - Filed under: Misc. GadgetsWe first caught wind of Arbitron's catchily and somewhat scarily-named Portable People Meter way back in April of last year, but it looks like it's now finally getting closer to reality, recently snagging that all-important FCC certification. The wearable/pocketable device, for those not up to speed, will supposedly monitor an individual's daily media diet, sending all the juicy details back to Arbitiron at the end of the day so they can crunch the numbers. It can't pick up every bit of content you consume, of course, just that from cooperating radio and TV stations, who are required to encode special signals into their programming -- but if it works as claimed, you can bet that more broadcasters will be quick to sign up. |

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 GT2 Type 997 (Oct 09 2006 23:51 GMT) - Filed under: Spy Photos, Sports/GTs, PorscheAlthough we brought you some information about this car just a couple of months ago, World Car Fans has captured a few more pics of the new 997 GT2 lapping the 'ring and we felt like we had to share. After all, it's probably going to be the first 911 production car capable of 200 mph, so we don't expect that you'll complain. As we pointed out last time, the official word on this model is that it doesn't exist. Maybe Porsche wants to make sure all of the GT3 RS models are spoken for first. |
