Analyst: Cingular Pearl IS coming in November (Oct 18 2006 09:59 GMT) - Filed under: Cingular, Pearl 8100, RumorsAnalyst Paul Howbold of Desjardins Securities notes this morning that Cingular Wireless will start selling the BlackBerry Pearl next month. That'd be November, only one month later than the Cingular devCentral tout I grabbed this summer- which Cingular freaked out about and pulled down in a nanosecond after they realized that sharing this info on the public Web was a bad, bad thing.Although many of us have long believed an October or November launch to be the time frame for Cingular's Pearl rollout, the declarative way in which this highly respected analyst is declaring this as fact convinces me that well, yea, this time frame is pretty realistic. Now I am going to deputize you BBHub readers. |

North Korea confiscates visitors' BlackBerrys (Oct 18 2006 09:55 GMT) - Filed under: StoriesFrom Agence France-Presse (AFP) via Japan Today, we learn this morning that when ABC-TV's "Good Morning America" host Diane Sawyer (at right) arrived in the highly secreative nation of North Korea yesterday, her production crew's BlackBerrys were taken into custody on landing in Pyongyang. The article notes that the few foreigners aboard the flight from Beijing to the North Korean capital found their BlackBerrys and cell phones confiscated on their arrival. "We're there as reporters, and you can imagine that like all good journalists we're trying to report as much as we can, as fully as we can, with as much access as we can, from places that people never get a chance to see, and to hear from people that rarely get heard from," ABC News senior vice-president Jeffrey Schneider tells AFP. "That's our goal and so far so good," Schneider said. |
