Fortune's scariest tech of 2006: Unbox, HD-DVD/Blu-Ray (Oct 31 2006 23:04 GMT) - Fortune has whipped up a list of what they call the Scariest Technology of 2006, or "horrible Halloween picks for the ghastliest gizmos, scariest software and most terrifying technologies of the year." With good reason, they have included Amazon Unbox and the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray formats on their list. Unbox gets the nod for its absurdly backwards usability and appalling user restrictions, and HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray: well, we know the complaints by now. |

[Techdirt] Why Competition Is Important In Broadband (Oct 31 2006 23:03 GMT) - The issue concerning the lack of competition in the broadband space has come up a few times in the past, usually around the topic of net neutrality. However, it impacts plenty of other things as well. Infoworld is running an article about how much trouble Cox Cable is causing former customers of the local CableAmerica provider they recently bought. As the article notes, the customers of CableAmerica chose it over Cox (the two directly competed in CableAmerica's Phoenix market) because they felt that CableAmerica gave them a better deal. However, as Cox took over, the customers lost that choice, and with it the ability to do much when Cox changed its policies and made life difficult for CableAmerica subscribers. |

Either way motivates a person to start a website. For me, i started with the purpose of earning money and as time goes on, starting website become a hobby of mine. |
