For Your Consideration (Dec 01 2006 23:16 GMT) - Film Reviews: Ten years into a collaboration that has produced the mockumentaries "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind," Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy shed the gimmick in the almost surreally fast-paced laffer "For Your Consideration." |

Samsung ARM 400mhz vs Xscale 520mhz (Dec 01 2006 23:16 GMT) - Hello, I would like to know which one is better performance and stability wise. Or are they both around the same level or would I notice a huge difference in performance between the both? I know the Xscale is clocked higher but that doesnt always mean its better. Thanks if anybody can help. |

existentially_submissive: happy thoughts - shaken not stirred (Dec 01 2006 23:16 GMT) - I said there was no blame or guilt for this situation and I still believe that. But there is responsibility and that is shared equally among us. We all had a choice each step of the way and we all communicated continuously throughout our little adventure. The problem is that we put our own little spin on the words of others. On my part I chose to hear the words and ignore the undercurrent. |

Buttonless Elevators Creep People Out (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - From a design standpoint, these new buttonless elevators in populated metro areas are great. Enter in the floor you want, and the central computer aggregates adjacent floors so people get where they're going faster. The problem comes when people get on board, change their minds, and freak due to a lack of control. And unlike S&M, there's no safe-word here. Most people catch on pretty quickly. |

OOps forgot to ask this as well (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - It varies somewhat -- some of the games are quite a bit bigger than others, generally the newer ones which have more artwork! They range from a few hundred KB up to 2.5 MB or so. So I guess if you have a 56 kbps modem link, that means roughly somewhere from 1 to 6 minutes, maybe 10 minutes tops. (Depending on how good your connection is, of course. |

Which game would you suggest (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - Hi Kate, Please don't be too put off by reading these forums -- people generally post here when they have some sort of difficult situation which isn't covered by the usual game instructions. 99% of the games go ahead smoothly without the hosts needing any help or advice from us! The only one of our games which we feel is rather difficult is Curse of the Pharaoh, because it involves the h |

Need for Host (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - Hi there, Yes, splitting like that would make a lot of sense -- would make keeping up with the hosting duties easier for both of them. You could then "assign" half the characters to each host, so that person reads and is familiar with those characters' details. There are bound to be overlaps of course where plots concern more than one character, and probably both hosts will need to be |

Which game would you suggest (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - I have told all my friends and family that I am running one of your games at my New Years Eve party, which they are all very excited about. However after reading some of the forums I am begining to wonder if I have bitten off more than I can chew. Which game would you suggest, that a complete novice buys, who will be organising it all on their own and that the guests will find easy to follow and p |

Need for Host (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - Thanks for the information. As a follow up, would it be possible to split the hosting duties between two people. i.e. you suggested that if a person was to be a host and a character you thought that the character should be Sir william or Helen. |

Extra Character (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - Hi, You certainly can create characters with similar goals (missions) - in fact, I recommend it. Doing this creates tension and conflict which is the essence of all our games. If you need to give one of the other characters a new goal, then give it to them as a separate sheet of paper (a bit like the "extra info" bits in the Ginger Roberts character). You can also give s |

Extra Character (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - I am preparing our first murder mystery game. We have 12 characters including Ginger Roberts. The idea is proven popular and we have a new guest. Can you please tell me if anybody has created an additional character for Death on the Gambia. I am planning to create a new character called Sahsa Simirnov a Russian. |

Need for Host (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - Hi there, In general we recommend that one person act purely as the host, rather than taking a character in the game. This is mostly because the games rely on events being stage-managed, secrets being uncovered, etc, during the course of the game, and so there has to be someone who's familiar with all the secret material and with what's supposed to be happening as the game unfolds. Paris News (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - We originally didn't include it because we thought that duplicating material like that might cause confusion to users and might see versions getting out osf step with each other -- but in the most recent games, we do now tend to include a copy of the "newspaper" in the zip, for convenience. Casino Fatale will get this added at its next revision. best, Mo |

Paris News (Dec 01 2006 23:15 GMT) - Hi there, Yes, that's right -- ideally you'd send Paris News out to the guests with their invitations. That way they can get an idea of the setting of the game, and what sorts of things are likely to be happening during it, before they actually turn up. But it wouldn't do any harm to have some extra copies in circulation / pinned up on a wall at the event itself, as well. best, Mo |
