- Hi all, I tried syncing some music files to my DELL DJ a few days ago, and the player came up with some error messages. After researching the errors, I fixed some of the mp3 files, but others I found out are corrupted. I can't even convert them to WAV files and back to MP3s like I did with the ones I fixed as mentioned above, because the converter programs won't work. Any way I can get them to work? Does anyone know any completely FREE converter programs that will convert corrupted mp3s into okay WAVs and back to okay MP3s (unlikely, but still)? |

- Hi all, I have looked through the newsgroup and found topics similar to, but not exactly what I am asking. My question is, I downloaded WMP 11, then when I went to go play audio files (mp3, haven't tried others), there are no visualizations. The name of the visualizations show up in the menu if you right click on the visualization part of the screen, but when you select one, it just goes to black instead of doing the visualization. Full screen is black as well: no visualization. |

- There's now one more reason to be careful about opening Microsoft Office attachments, says our colleague Bob McMillan at IDG News Service. Microsoft today issued a warning about a new, unpatched memory corruption error in its word-processing software, and said that it was investigating reports of "limited" attacks that exploit the problem. The bug can be exploited by adding a string of characters in a Word file that can corrupt the PC's memory and allow the attacker to run unauthorized software on the system, Microsoft wrote in a security advisory. The bug affects many versions of the software, including Word 2000, 2002, and 2003, the Word Viewer 2003 and several versions of Microsoft Works. It is rated 'critical' by the FrSIRT Web site, which compiles a list of software vulnerabilities. |
