- Before I begin, let me apologize if I'm asking any questions that have been asked and answered here before. It's been a while since I posted in the MS Public Newsgroups, but with Vista coming up, and with plans to upgrade my current system when January 30th rolls around, I started looking here in the Vista forums to research upgrade options. My first question is for me. My main concern is not the technical feasibility of any upgrade to Vista (my current system comfortably exceeds the minimum requirements for Vista, and meets the "full experience" criteria as well), but the cost. I do know from lurking here recently that those who purchase the retail versions of Windows XP (Home or Pro, Upgrade or Full Install) can qualify for a reduced-cost upgrade to Vista. |

- Hello, I have a problem using Microsoft LDAP API, I have attached an example program that works fine on windows 2003 but fails on windows 2000 server SP4. - Hi....I have never had trouble before when I put my music on a blank cd. But, this time, when I hit the "burn" button, wmp says, "Please insert a blank cd." And there's already a blank cd in my D drive. I have wmp 11 (which worked well before). |

- Hi I installed windows Vista Ultimate RTM on an AMD Turion64 2Ghz processor with 2GB of ram. Everything is running very well except for explorer with network shares. It takes anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes to open a network folder. The same machine with XP is instantaneous. Other computers on the network are instantaneous to the same shares as well. |

- I was removing some programs from my computer, none of which were closely related to any files in the My Documents Folder. I went to go open a file, and it wasn't there anymore, and the complete My Documents was empty. There was no sign of things being in the Recyling Bin, and nothing showed up when I tried searching through the control panel. All of my pictures, word documents, and saved items are missing. - Further evidence this morning that drinking and loaded guns aren't such a good idea. NYPD sergeant Kevin Finnegan was accidentally shot in the back by his girlfriend, housing police officer Carmen Nieves, after a drinking game in the upstate house they rented for the weekend. The Daily News reports that both were drunk after playing card games that involved drinking. It is believed that Nieves was trying to secure the gun, which belonged to Finnigan and was not an NYPD service weapon, as the couple walked upstairs to go to bed. The gun went off and hit Finnigan in the upper back. |
