Red Angel (Dec 14 2006 00:10 GMT) - Recommended Reviewed by Glenn EricksonYasuzo Masumura has long been acknowledged as a master of sophisticated and often disturbing satires and genre pictures unlike those of his Japanese contemporaries. If Akira Kurosawa was criticized for making films with a foreign sensibility, Masumura's shockers go beyond consideration of national styles. Several years have passed since the Fantoma DVD label released three of his more notable pictures. Giants and Toys (1958) is a scathing criticism of the Japanese consumer culture and its cutthroat business environment. Manji (1964) is a delirious soap opera of sexual manipulation and emotional blackmail. |

Men at Work (Dec 14 2006 00:10 GMT) - Rent It Background: It seems that a lot of foreign movies, at least those that the art snobs try to cram down out throats as being somehow better then anything made domestically, are geared towards audiences that treat movies with actual entertainment value as beneath them. They seek out titles that are found solely in film festivals that no one has ever heard of in order to play the one upsmanship game and read hidden meanings into every obscure passage from the movies in order to feel superior. Thankfully, not all foreign movies cater to such types, some of the best from around the world finding their way onto DVD thanks to small companies like Film Movement. Their movies tell stories from around the world, shown from the perspective of directors that may never see ... |

Garfield and Friends Behind The Scenes (Dec 14 2006 00:10 GMT) - Rent It The Show:Compilation DVDs are nothing new to the world and we've seen it countless times for many TV shows. When it comes to these discs the audience is usually split between those who already own the complete seasons, those who want them, or those who just don't care. As you can imagine that makes it difficult for one of these releases to find success in the marketplace. It's basically up to the consumer who isn't serious about getting the whole set to pick it up. |

Detroit Pistons Selling 1G iPod Shuffle Knockoff (Dec 14 2006 00:10 GMT) - We suppose now that the iPod Shuffle looks like a paperclip, this wouldn't be such a big deal. But we'd be remiss if we didn't show you the Detroit Piston's new MP3 player, which they apparently contracted a Chinese knockoff company to make. Notice the resemblance? Yeah. Well, at least each $25, 128MB player has part of its proceeds going to the Detroit Medical Center's breast cancer prevention program. |

My Dad, the Grad (Dec 14 2006 00:08 GMT) - My father "retired" in June of 2004 and was able to return to school and have it paid for due to his age (by all of our tax dollars). Nice deal for him. He wanted to keep his mind sharp so he went back for advanced machinery from a local community college and got his fourth degree. He didn't think anyone would hire him at 70 years, but he would be a candidate for a local company needing this skill. |

Alas My return. (Dec 14 2006 00:08 GMT) - Hello all, I apologize for my hiatus but I have been on a bit of a rollercoaster, both emotional and professionally. Time away from the viewfinder has really taken its toll on me, but I am proud to say that I plan to return to show my progress both in technique and postprocessing. After a stint as a carsalesman, a telemarketer, and now a part-time sales associate at an outlet mall, I have still not lost sight of my passion, to capture the world as I see it and to share it with you my colleagues. Next time you hear from me I should have some images to post. I have come along way and now it's almost time to show it. |
