eBay Find of the Galaxy: 1979 Fiat X/19 (Dec 18 2006 23:29 GMT) - Filed under: Coupes, Auction Action, EuroWe know that eBay's slogan says "You can get it on eBay," and for the most part that's really a great thing. Let's just say that certain Autobloggers appreciate the fact that there's a place on the web where one can easily acquire a mint-condition print advertisement for the 2-door 1970 Chrysler Imperial whenever the urge to do so strikes.Sometimes, however, a longer perusal of the site uncovers finds that are so startling, one can only think, "Well, yes, you can get it... but should you? |

WebWhacking (Dec 18 2006 23:22 GMT) - Web Whacking a site is rife with copyright violations, etc. However, some folks find it useful. In the past, I've recommended tools like SiteSnagger (which, BTW, Kathy Schrock recommended to me many years ago when I worked at an education service center) for Windows, and SiteSucker for Mac. A new approach I hadn't heard of includes this one: On linux I use wget, and I just googled and found that there are Windows binaries for it. |

Scientifically-based Graphs (Dec 18 2006 23:22 GMT) - Scott McLeod (Dangerously Irrelevant) had chart week recently. Scott summarizes the charts (thanks for those of us who are math challenged) in this way: We learned that most schools and classrooms have wired connections to the Internet but that classroom wireless penetration is stagnant. We learned that student laptop usage is minimal, both overall and even in schools where students get to use them. We learned that significant percentages of schools fail to have students or parents affirmatively sign that they have read and understand acceptable use policies. |
