- according to a big list of electrical specs for intel cpu's there is a semi-confusion.( to me) and there is an overlap with similar chips being all called PIII and votlage differences and some slot 1 and some socket 370- with the same speed. usually it's the lower voltage of faster chips that gets you , as the motherboard cannot be set for that voltage. The speed alone does not tell if a chip will work in a certain board. examples, I have 3 systems with slot1 sockets, a pIII 450 and 2 with PIII-500 ( slot1-100 bus) I have a slot 1 667 PIII that cannot be used as it is too low a voltage. |
