Satellite Awards - 2006 Winners (Dec 21 2006 00:47 GMT) - I wasn’t going to bother posting the nominees for the International Press Academy’s Satellite Awards, created 11 years ago following a rift within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. But after accidentally looking at their nominations, I felt their choices were actually more interesting and eclectic than those of the more commercial Golden Globes. Films and [... |

GOJIRA / GODZILLA (1954): DVD Review (Dec 21 2006 00:47 GMT) - By Dan Schneider of Cosmoetica: Heaven. When I came across the long-awaited release of the original 1954 Japanese monster film Gojira on DVD, I thought I had struck heaven. That it was accompanied by its Americanized cousin, Godzilla, King of the Monsters, only doubled the joy of expectation. And for once, I was not disappointed. |

Meizu Lets Users Design Their Next MP3 Player (Dec 21 2006 00:44 GMT) - It's not often fanboys get to design their favorite company's next product, but that's pretty much what Meizu is doing. They're holding a contest to see who can design their next dap. We've seen their players before, and they've been pretty impressive, beating even the mighty iPod, so this contest idea is a great way for Meizu to shoot it's name into the limelight. Granted, they're scoring some free R&D and the contest doesn't include cash prizes, but unless you're already a designer, when's the last time you pointed at a gadget and said, yeah, I designed that. – |

Winston's Alert (Dec 21 2006 00:38 GMT) - We checked out Winston's last Friday and it's amazing. There's an exposed brick wall, crown molding, a long bar, red-upholstered stools, dark wood tables, paintings of sail boats, and framed mirrors hanging from the walls, which makes the long, narrow spot look bigger than it is. And the whole place is dimly lit with filament bulbs and white candles. It could be the perfect date place. Or the... |
