Man Stuff - The Best of Uncrate (Dec 28 2006 23:15 GMT) - This week at Uncrate: We get ready for a future cataclysmic event with the Ice-Qube, prepare for the coming year with a subscription to the Beer of the Month Club, and keep the books we got over the holidays in order with the Mos Eisley Cantina Bookend Set. We also keep our skin in check with the Anthony Logistics Mud Scrub Exfoliating Bar, plan for office warfare with the USB Laser Guided Missile Launcher, and prepare for some home improvements with Handyman In-Your-Pocket. Finally, we consider going prehistoric with the David Yurman Dinosaur Bone Bracelet, remember chemistry class with the We Are Made of Carbon T-Shirt, and go after a piece of $200,000 with some Perplex City Game Cards. |

Lying Is So Much Easier On The Conscience When You Don't Have To Look At Anyone (Dec 28 2006 23:14 GMT) - A new UK study suggests that technology not only makes lying easier, it allows liars to feel less guilty about doing it. More than four out of five people say they tell "little white lies" at least once a day, most preferring to do so via cell phone, text message or e-mail. Older studies proclaimed that people loved to lie over the phone, but weren't so keen on lying via e-mail (partially because people don't want a record of the lie). Obviously the lies being told are the same ones we've been telling for hundreds of years (I'm too sick to come to work, you look fine in that outfit, etc.) -- technology simply acts as an emotional firewall, allowing us to lie without having to look someone in the eye. |

Although the boat, made from the trunk of a single oak, was found five years ago, it was only lifted out of the Tay during the summer. Repairs carried out on the 30ft vessel have already given experts an insight into Bronze Age technology. The boat, which would have been powered by up to 12 men, is ... |
