Connecting a laptop wirelessly (Dec 31 2006 07:03 GMT) - My sister got a laptop for Christmas and she's been using a ethernet cable to hook up to my router to connect to the internet. That keeps her limited to a certain distance of my room and I'd rather her sit around some other place where she's out of my sight so I want to figure out how to connect... |

Vonage VoIP - Hook Vonage Up WIRELESSLY? (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - I have a linksys Rt31P2 that I connect an apple airport express to to run the internet to my computers. I also connect the phone lines for my house to the RT31P2. cable modem---RT31P2----Apple AE and home phone lines Seems that the combo of the apple wireless router (set as WAP, not NAT router) connected to the RT31P2 causes connection problems sometimes and I have to reset everything (unplug/restart). When I connect the apple airport express directly to the cable modem and use as a NAT router instead of a WAP behind the RT31P2, I have no problems. I think the router side of the RT31P2 is not very reliable. |

Vonage VoIP - how I plan to get setup, and DISH PVR ? (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Question #1, anyone know what I need to do if anything to get the Dish Network PVR942 to work ok, it requires a phone line connection. Question #2, I only do 5 outbound faxes a month, can I fax out on the Vonage voice line or do I need a special Vonage fax line? Do you see any issues with what I'm putting together? I don't know the answer to #1, but the answer to #2 is that you can use your regular line for the occasional fax. I don't see any issues with what you're proposing; |

Vonage VoIP - Dual VT2142 Configuration Problem one working (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Techie74 you said to do the following: [color=red:0a341a091b]From the back of your modem run one ethernet cable to the internet port of your first VT2142. Then from ethernet port 1 of your first VT 2142 run another ethernet cable to the internet port of the second VT 2142[/color:0a341a091b] Can I then plug the ethernet port from the PC into the LAN port on the second VT so it can browse the web and then I wouldn't need the router anymore I guess? |

Vonage VoIP - Getting my VT2442 to work behind a Belkin F5D7230-4 (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - OK so I've been using this Belkin router for about 6 months before getting my Vonage account and it worked MUCH better than my previous WRT54G router. Then 3 months ago I get Vonage and a VT2442 along with it. I decided to use this solo with my network and with QoS enabled, the network just performs miserably.. I have two gaming PCs that rely HEAVILY on the internet and wanted to go back to the Belkin but I cannot seem to get the Vonage to work with it.. the VT2442 power light just turns red and i get that weird recording.. |

Vonage VoIP - Static, bad lan ports, i finally tossed my RTP300 (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - At first it was the static. Various changes in my configuration, upstream from my wireless router, downstream, QoS (even though my connection is very fast and I have very little PC traffic), multiple calls into Vonage... I did notice that one of the LAN ports on the RTP300 was acting funny, dropping the connection and reconnecting it (the familiar "Cable unplugged") - though I was not sure at first whether it was the RTP300, the cable or the PC card. |

Vonage VoIP - Garbled audio with DI-524 router and Time Warner cable (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Steve Thanks for your reply. Actually I meant the WRT54G router. However I think I will order the WRT54GL. I appreciate you bringing that router to my attention. I did some quick googling on it and found it has outstanding ratings and the DD-WRT 3rd party software also seems to be highly rated. |

Vonage VoIP - "New" RTP300 is bad, they're sending me a refurb o (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - For the last several weeks I've been experiencing some major static on my lines. (VoIP speed tests speeds were great, but QoS was averaging around 45% or so consistently.) At first, I thought it might be because the RTP300 is plugged in to the same outlet that a bunch of Christmas items are connected via one power strip. When moving it didn't help, and when every possible troubleshooting tip attempted didn't help, I finally got someone from "advanced technical support" |

Vonage VoIP - Caller ID Stopped Working (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Thanks everyone for your replies ! The good news is that I got it fixed. The better news is that it was not a vonage problem. After I eliminated anything Vonage related, I simply unplugged my main base for the Uniden phone and plugged back in and voila.......caller id worked again. |

Vonage VoIP - No more dial tone, same config for >2.5 years (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - I did search on this forum but didn't find much that can apply to my situation. I have had the same configuration with Vonage for the last 2 years and 8 months without any problem, but I'm having a difficult time to get my dial tone back. I have tried to reboot modem, router and vonage adapter many times to no avail. I also tried to login the vonage adapter's web interface and reboot. Light on adapter is solid green. |

Vonage VoIP - how I plan to get setup, and DISH PVR ? (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Hi, just about ready to sign up, I wanted to throw out my setup to get any advice on changes or tweaks I could make. I have, 8MB Comcast Cable pipe coming to the house I plan on cutting off the wire from the street once my # is ported I have a Netgear WPN824 router I have 3 PC's running off the wireless and 1 wired I have a Dell all in one printer fax scanner I use to make 5 faxes a month with, no inbound faxes at all I have Dish Network PVR 942 that has to be connected to a phone line too. My plan is to connect the Motorola VT2142 to one of the open ethernet ports on my Netgear WPN824 then feed the phone line to the wall (after cutting off the wire from the street at the outside box on my house) and thus supply all jacks in the house with Vonage service. Question #1, anyone know what I need to do if anything to get the Dish Network PVR942 to work ok, it requires a phone line connection. Question #2, I only do 5 outbound faxes a month, can I fax out on the Vonage voice line or do I need a special Vonage fax line? |

Vonage VoIP - Vonage in Portugal, Proxy server won't register (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Is the router set up as a DHCP server? I'm not sure what this means. The router is a D-Link, wireless ADSL router This may be the key issue. By default, the PAP2 is set up to get its IP dynamically (automatically). This means that the device it's connected to- the DSL router in your case- needs to provide that service. |

Vonage VoIP - does vonage record phone calls.?? (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Our system is VoIP it does not use POTS(which is PSTN). The only way we can communicate with PSTN companys are through proxy gateways. There is no compression of the audio... only conversion from digital to analog. There can be no recording because we use RTP. |

Vonage VoIP - RT31P2 QOS Setting (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Enable QOS, that should help allot with the choppiness. Try and set the rate to 768kbps. If that does not work try 600kbps. I have Comcast in Chicago and 600kbps seems work better for me. |

Vonage VoIP - Dual VT2142 Configuration Problem one working (Dec 31 2006 07:01 GMT) - Thanks again everyone for your help, I won't be able to try these ideas out until tuesday as we are out of town for the new year. I will hower try them and repost the results. So Steve I only need a ethernet run to each of the internet ports on the VT's and then they all can stay the same IP? I used static only because I thought something was wrong with the device pulling a IP from the router, so most likely I will just turn on the routers dhcp and let the VT's pull there IP's from there.
