6300 kilometers later... (Dec 31 2006 18:33 GMT) - We returned from our four week driving trip in New Zealand last night and we are still recovering from the time change. We arrived home at 11:30pm and slept until almost 10am this morning. In 6300 kilometers we travelled from Auckland to Invercargill and back but unfortunately we did miss the northwestern tip and the eastern coast of the north island. We'll have to visit those areas on our next trip. |

Senior Piano Recital (Dec 31 2006 18:33 GMT) - The Upper Arlington Music Academy held their first senior level recital and Sophie was invited to play Fur Elise. The studio normally schedules two recital sessions sprinkling students of various levels of competency across the two sessions but they decided to hold a special senior level recital this year. Sophie loved playing on the ginormous ebony grand Steinway and mentioned that she wanted that piano for Christmas. Anybody have $100 grand that they'd like to donate to the cause? |

When I Was Born in the Sky - by Sophie Marquand (Dec 31 2006 18:33 GMT) - Sophie competed in the sixth grade Writing Stars Competition and won first place! All students wrote a short piece for their Reading and Language Arts class given the prompt, "A time when I was a star". The pieces were judged by many teachers in the school and because Sophie won first place for her work "When I Was Born in the Sky", she'll get to compete in the next level of competition on December 15th.Congratulations Sophie!
