The metric Moon (Jan 08 2007 23:55 GMT) - If you think in pounds and miles instead of kilograms and kilometers, you're in the minority. Only the United States, Liberia, and Burma still primarily use English units -- the rest of the world is metric. And now the Moon will be metric too. read more |

Review : Metal Slug Anthology for Wii (Jan 08 2007 23:52 GMT) - For the past two weeks I have been rocking out to SNK Playmore's Metal Slug Anthology for Wii. It is a pixel perfect collection of all the Metal Slug arcade games in one Nintendo Wii disk. It's got Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3,4,5 that were made for the original NeoGeo hardware and this collection is the only US way to play Metal Slug 6 that was developed using the newer Atomiswave arcade hardware developed by Sega/Sammy. It is awesome to see that MSG 6 really took advantage of the more powerful processors, bigger color pallet and more RAM than the now classic but really old NeoGeo hardware. This collection has all the Metal Slug games with the exception of Metal Slug Mission 1 and 2 for NeoGeo Pocket and Metal Slug Advance for Gameboy Advance. |

"We realized that basically not a single well-rounded campaign had been run." (Jan 08 2007 23:52 GMT) - Some bracing honesty in a detailed and well-rounded picture of the state of the Libertarian Party post-2006 elections, via this Third Party Watch interview with the Party's Executive Director Shane Cory. A sample: There is no putting lipstick on our election results this year. We ran too few candidates and of those candidates, not many received even a moderate level of support (man hours and money). |

OSU - Florida (Jan 08 2007 23:47 GMT) - I'll take OSU by a touchdown. Update: Good grief. I'm glad I had no money bet on that travesty. It reminded me of all those Super Bowls which were hyped to the skies and turned into blowouts. |

A SysAdmin in Every Rec Room (Jan 08 2007 23:47 GMT) - Is that the 21st century measure of the middle-class? Bill Gates and Microsoft evidently think so. Gates and crew topped off an underwhelming performance at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, the Vegas saturnalia for geekdom, by pitching something called Windows Home Server. The idea is relatively simple and sorely needed: |

Java Properties 0.8.3 (Default branch) (Jan 08 2007 23:46 GMT) - Java Properties provides an efficient way to access bean-like properties of Java objects. Unlike Java bean properties, a chain of properties can be specified efficiently, allowing convenient access to properties of nested domain objects. Runtime class-generation and caching can be used very easily to obviate the need for reflection, without losing the flexibility it provides. Properties are specified using strings like "P1:P2:...: |
