An Overview of Parallelism (Feb 10 2007 23:55 GMT) - Mortimer.CA writes with a recently released report from Berkeley entitled "The Landscape of Parallel Computing Research: A View from Berkeley: "Generally they conclude that the 'evolutionary approach to parallel hardware and software may work from 2- or 8-processor systems, but is likely to face diminishing returns as 16 and 32 processor systems are realized, just as returns fell with greater instruction-level parallelism.' Kicked from the TG PR Server? PLEASE READ THIS! (Feb 10 2007 23:47 GMT) - On the TacticalGamer.com Battlefield series servers, we have an automatic script that gives those who donate to pay for the servers (Supporting Members) priority over non-Supporting Members. In order to run this script, *our server is technically full at 62 people*. Occasionally, you may log in and while loading, then a Supporting Member also joins the game, in which case you'll be "kicked" after your PC fully loads the map, with a standard message referring to a TK/Vote as the reason for your kick. Unfortunately, we can't update that kick message to indicate that the kick was for a supporting member, and not due to your behavior. |
