New York: Snapshot: The Sanctuary Hotel Preview Photos (Feb 28 2007 23:35 GMT) - This month, construction is expected to begin on the old Portland Square Hotel in Times Square with the hopes of it turning into a four-star boutique hotel called Sanctuary. The hotel is from the same people behind the Upper upper West Side spot, Marrakech. They kindly emailed us some photos of what the hotel rooms aspire to be. You can still stay at the hotel while renovations are ongoing (the Sanctuary name change goes in effect when the lobby is finally completed) but really why would you put yourself through that?Anyways, when and if the rooms get finished, each room will feature an in-room bath, surrounded by adjustable leather drapery, to allow for an instant open |

Sydney: The Honeymooners Down Under: Popping into the Westin Sydney (Feb 28 2007 23:35 GMT) - HotelChatter's Senior Editor Juliana borrowed a page from vintage Britney Spears' 2004 playbook and got hitched after a brief engagement. However, there were some differences. One, Juliana dated this guy for four years as opposed to three months. Also, Juliana's now-husband is neither a background dancer, nor baby daddy, nor a failed white rapper. Lastly, Juliana and spouse went a little further than Brit and K-Fed's honeymoon in Fiji by spending their first few weeks of newlywed bliss in Sydney, Australia with a sidetrip to the Whitsunday Islands. |

Tadpole limb regeneration, human tissue regeneration? (Feb 28 2007 23:35 GMT) - David Pescovitz: Researchers have identified the electrical switch that turns on a tadpole's regeneration system so it can grow a new tail or leg. Someday, a detailed understanding of this phenomena could possibly lead to a way to stimulate human tissue regeneration. Michael Levin and his colleagues at the Forsyth Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology in Boston report that a molecular pump that moves protons across the cell membrane, generating a current, is the "master control to initiate the regeneration response."
