AbleReach: Learning Wordpress (Site Planning and Preparation) (Apr 30 2007 23:09 GMT) - I need to integrate a blog and a more-or-less static site, something I haven't done yet. Given that I am no programmer, my first intuition is that the quickest solution is to develop the static site separately, but with the same look as the blog, using the same css for both and installing the blog at site.com/blog. On the other hand, it would be handy to use the same WP gizmo to manage everything, and be able to include some of the WP sidebar widgets in the static site. |

Sun Mulls Deeper Open-Source Dive (Apr 30 2007 23:08 GMT) - "Amid falling sales of its bread-and-butter servers and mounting pressure on Schwartz to cut more jobs and boost a stock price that's dropped more than 22%, to USD 5.26, since early February, Sun is considering its most radical open-source move yet: releasing Solaris under the love-it-or-hate-it GPL. The move could reinvigorate Sun by putting one of its crown jewels into the thick of the open-source movement - or it could diminish the worth of one of Sun's most valuable pieces of intellectual property." |

Sumo wrestlers compete to make babies cry (Apr 30 2007 23:07 GMT) - Mark Frauenfelder: CNN has a photo gallery from an annual competition held every year in Tokyo in which sumo wrestlers hold babies and face off in an attempt to make them bawl. For some reason, I doubt these guys will catch as much flak as the amazing photographer Jill Greenberg did for giving and then taking away candy from little kids to make them cry.
