Palm's Hawkins tries to explain Foleo, again (Jun 19 2007 23:59 GMT) - (InfoWorld) - The official Palm blog has added an audio interview with Palm's founder in what appears to be a new attempt to justify the recently announced Foleo. The Foleo, which works with a smartphone, is in a category of its own and has largely puzzled the market. It is the size of a small laptop with a full keyboard and a 10-inch display but no hard drive and will cost $499 after a $100 rebate. Palm hasn't revealed details of the processor but says it's too slow to nicely display video. The Foleo is designed to be used in conjunction with a smartphone which it connects to via Bluetooth. |

SPRAIN (Jun 19 2007 23:59 GMT) - MEANING: A sprain is an injury which occurs to ligaments caused by a sudden overstretching (for the muscle injury, see strain). The ligament is usually only stretched, but sometimes it can be snapped, slightly torn, or ruptured, all of which are more serious and require longer to heal. Simply said, Sprains occur when there is a stretch or tear in one or more ligaments, slightly elastic bands of tissue that keep the bones in place while permitting movement at a joint. |

Why Bearish Forecasts are Meaningless (Jun 19 2007 23:58 GMT) - The FT has an interview with UBS CEO Peter Wuffli today, in which he intones gravely about the dangers facing credit markets: Mr Wuffli is also keenly aware rosy conditions will not go on indefinitely: “What is not here to stay is the absence of default, the absence of inflation over a longer period of time, and of essentially flat yield and credit curves,& |

How Do You Know? (Jun 19 2007 23:55 GMT) - I have been toiling with a few problems recently, not just the answer to the question, how do I know, but also others ranging from the discussions around the measurement of blog impacts, to my criticisms of the Canadian Council on learning, to my own doubts when I present a talk that is, in my own eyes, less than effective. I've tried to capture some of the issues I wrestling with in this item (and related items on the nature of concepts, learning and ownership, the virtual and the physical, and the definition of knowledge). These are - at least in my mind - all aspects of the same problem, which I think I'm getting closer to here. Stephen Downes, Half an Hour, June 19, 2007 [Tags: Web Logs, Canada] [Link] [Comment] |
