Canes Need To Make The Right Move (Jun 19 2007 17:52 GMT) - from the Rocky Mount Telegram, On Friday, the Hurricanes will pick 11th overall in the NHL Entry Draft and should look for a defenseman or checking-line center. This is a weak draft, however, where no instant-impact players exist. Instead, president and general manager Jim Rutherford, one year removed from his coronation as Executive of the Year, will have to re-energize this team on the fly. There is little salary cap room to sign impact free agents, so any new additions will likely come from a trade that U-Hauls out of town a familiar face. The right move will send the fan base, an area defined as from Rocky Mount to Greensboro, clamoring for tickets and trinkets. |
