Celution™ System Wins FDA Approval; Found to Fix Breast Defects - medgadget.com (Dec 17 2007 19:15 GMT) - Cytori Therapeutics, Inc. (San Diego, CA) has received FDA's 510(k) clearance to market its Cytori Autologous Fat Transfer (AFT) System, that offers the ability to " transfer a patient's own adipose (fat) tissue from one part of a patient's body to another at the point-of-care in the same surgical procedure." We have reported about this stem cell system back in February 2006. The company is understandably excited about the clearance, and also about a string of recent clinical accomplishments, one of which was just reported at the 30th San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium: The novel procedure evaluated 21 women with no metastases or recurrence at least one year after partial mastectomy. |

BenQ Digital Camera Has Seriously High ISO Sensitivity [Digital Cameras] - gizmodo.com (Dec 17 2007 19:15 GMT) - The X835 digital camera from BenQ has an 8MP sensor, packs in a 3x optical zoom and can handle sensitivities of up to ISO 2000 during still image capture. The ISO sensitivity during video capture is set at a maximum of 6400. The addition of such functionality comes at a price; the noise in the captured images will probably be enough to cause an avalanche in the Alps from a 500 mile distance. Most standard cameras have sensitivities of less than ISO 1600; |

Trolltech Qtopia Phone Edition - ubergizmo.com (Dec 17 2007 19:15 GMT) - Trolltech has announced the availability of its Qtopia Phone Edition application platform and user interface for Linux-powered handsets in China, in particular cellphone manufacturer ZTE. The U980 from ZTE was developed specifically for China's national 3G standard known as TD-SCDMA, and it won't be the first handset from ZTE that runs on Qtopia software with the e3 and e700 forging a path prior to this. Since the Qtopia Phone Edition is capable of extending its flexibility and cost-savings benefits of Linux to the mobile market, you have a rather interesting alternative to proprietary software platforms like Windows Mobile and Symbian. And while there could be plenty of explanations for why the school would want to control student browsers, we loved the teacher's write-up of the event: |
