- Hello all. My problem is that my computer has random crashes, random crashes meaning it can happen everyday at different times or sometimes just once a week. I've tried to see if it's a program (itunes, firefox, etc.) maybe causing the problem but it doesn't seem to be. When it crashes it goes to a blue screen saying it will restart in [time here] and it's pretty fast but still it's a problem. |

- Gerry, you've been very kind and I wanted to let you know what else I have done. I did download the RAM test but have not yet run it. I'm a bit reluctant to change the BIOS at startup because it seems like something I could get into trouble with. But I will try to run the test later today and see if it will go without that. I did run a preliminary test (I know not as rigorous by far) that comes with the ThinkPad and it tested memory as OK, so at least (I'd think) there's no huge memory defect. |

- I have my computer set to back up at 3am on every Sunday and also to run Virus scan around 5am every day, however, since the computer is in sleep mode (or whatever it goes into when you don't use it for a while), these things don't run until I come in and wake it up. Of course, at that time, I'm wanting to USE the computer and not be backing up or running virus scan at the same time. How do you tell it to wake up and perform these scheduled tasks? I have Windows Vista Home Premium. Thank you for any help. |
