iPod touch SIP-VoIP application videoed in action - engadget.com (Dec 31 2007 18:50 GMT) - Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable VideoSure, there's less than 24 hours before everyone and their grandmother can hop online and grab 'hold of the SIP-VoIP application, but if you won't be bothered with it unless there's proof that it works, you're in the right place. The crafty folks over at touch mods have videoed "the first VoIP call" made with an iPod touch, the aforementioned software and their own microphone appendage. Granted, the dialogue is about as uninteresting as it gets, but trust us, that's not what's important here. Check out a couple of in-action videos after the jump. |

AOL stops work on Netscape - coolest-gadgets.com (Dec 31 2007 18:50 GMT) - Sorry Netscape fans - AOL has just announced last Friday that they have stopped development of the Netscape browser, claiming that the old brand has little chance (or none if you want to be more straight to the point) of ever regaining its market share from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. According to AOL, development on Netscape is at a very pitiful stage at this point in time, devolved recently into a “handful of engineers tasked with creating a skinned version of Firefox with a few extensions.” |

More restrictions in airline travel - coolest-gadgets.com (Dec 31 2007 18:50 GMT) - Looks like air travel has just gotten a little bit more complicated, with the US Department of Transportation issuing a statement concerning loose lithium batteries. This edict of sorts claims that lithium batteries will have to be inserted into a phone, notebook or other electronic device or dropped into a plastic bag and bundled along with carry-on baggage with a maximum number of two batteries per passenger from January 1st onwards. I guess the US Department of Transportation does not want to start off the New Year with a bang, eh? According to the Federal Aviation Administration, this restriction came about due to the fact should a lithium battery catch fire while in a cargo hold, existing extinguishing systems won’t be able to st... |

I’m not too sure how secure this thing is though, but it certainly sounds like a more convenient way of going about with your online purchases. Source: |
