Press Gaggle by Scott Stanzel (Dec 31 2007 19:59 GMT) - Hmmm, could Xinhua have made a mistake? They're usually pretty good at getting it right, but this White House press briefing says only that Bush and Uribe talked, it doesn't say that they met. On the other hand, it doesn't say the talk was by phone, so maybe this did happen, some informal unofficial type of meeting - both the Bushes and Uribes are ranch types and like to go informal, so there certainly wouldn't be a problem of styles if this thing was slapped right through together on the fly. Will stay tuned. |

Office 2007 Home and Student (Dec 31 2007 19:58 GMT) - I am considering the purchase of Office 2007 Home and Student. I would like to install it on my Toshiba laptop which is a year old and did not come with an "office-type" software suite; it only has Works and One Note. If I purchase the software mentioned above, is it an upgrade only requiring that I have all the earlier versions of the programs installed? The software suite I am referring to retails for $129 to $149. |

For Congressman, Life in Bike Lane Comes Naturally (Dec 31 2007 19:57 GMT) - By GREG HITT, Wall Street Journal WASHINGTON -- A little after 6:00 one morning, Earl Blumenauer emerged from his Capitol Hill row house. The temperature hovered near 40 degrees and it was really raining. The Oregon congressman hopped on his rust-colored Trek Portland, an aluminum-frame bicycle with a carbon front fork designed to absorb road shock, and pedaled to his office. Though he was alone on the road, and despite the downpour, he stopped at every red traffic signal. |
