Perhaps all things have an end, ringtones included, or perhaps they don?t die but merely fade away with obsolete mobile phone styles and shapes. There?s no question that the market has waned and reports indicate (New York Times) that the trend for this industry is declining because of several factors. |

Strawberries That Taste Like Chocolate [Mmmm] - gizmodo.com (Jan 05 2008 05:35 GMT) - In the future, no natural food will taste as you remember it now. Because face it: fruits and vegetables are great. But if turnips tasted like Doritos, America wouldn't be so fat that our continent occasionally dips into the ocean, like arm floaties on a grown man. Tokyo company FCOM is learning how to change food as we know it. |

Eight Goodyear-branded GPS units to be released at CES - engadget.com (Jan 05 2008 05:35 GMT) - Filed under: CES, GPS Goodyear announced today that it's licensed out the Goodyear name for series of eight GPS units to be designed and manufactured by a New York company called The NCC. The forebodingly-named ODM actually got its start making Christmas lights about ten years ago -- "The NCC" actually stands for "The National Christmas Company" -- but it's been making electrical equipment under the Westinghouse and Stanley brand names for nearly eight years now. The NCC's eight Goodyear GPS units will be its first push into higher-end consumer tech, and will range all over the map from the GY100K keychain receiver to the GY540 4.3-inch touchscreen device (pictured) with Bluetooth handsfree controls, media playback capabilities and a free y... |

Goodyear Announces an Octet of 'Rugged' GPS Units [GPS Branding] - gizmodo.com (Jan 05 2008 05:35 GMT) - Goodyear, that name you're accustomed to seeing on tires, has decided to jump into the GPS game, sticking its familiar brand name onto navigation devices. Hey, they have something to do with cars, don't they? The company has pulled a Garmin on us, brand spamming with an entire product line of eight different GPS units that'll roll out at CES, and ship in Q2 of this year. They're calling them "rugged" for reasons we can't fathom. Anyway, they'll have a remote control you can stick within easy reach, letting you push a button to answer your Bluetooth-enabled cellphone. |

Scaled Composites to unveil the SpaceShipTwo on January 23rd? - engadget.com (Jan 05 2008 05:35 GMT) - Filed under: Transportation It's been just a few months since a test of an experimental motor for Scaled Composites' SpaceShipTwo passenger space vehicles caused a deadly explosion at the company's Mojave Desert facility, but we're hearing whispers today that the craft will be unveiled on January 23rd, along with the WhiteKnightTwo carrier plane. Testing of the six-person ship will apparently start in mid-2008, with the first commercial Virgin Galactic flight tentatively scheduled for the end of 2009. That seems hopelessly optimistic to us, but then again, we're not ones to doubt the awesome combined powers of Burt Rutan and Richard Branson. |

Massager for overworked fingers - popgadget.net (Jan 05 2008 05:35 GMT) - This isn't exactly what I had in mind when I posed the question the other day about whether anyone has seen a good massage device for Blackberry Thumb, but this little finger massager caught my eye at Trends in Japan. From Matensha, this manual massager, called "Yubi Lax germa," incorporates Germanium, a mineral that warms up the device while in use. I don't know if they ship to the U.S., but this looks like one of those little beauty/health gadgets that you might find in an Asian market like Mitsua in Edgewater, New Jersey (just across the Hudson from NYC). |
