8 Web Design Mistakes That Developers Make (Jan 31 2008 22:31 GMT) - An excellent website takes a particularly savvy blend of both great design and great code. Die and Let Live (Jan 31 2008 22:30 GMT) - Highly Recommended The Product: Justin Channell is a moviemaking anomaly. Born in 1987 (making him a whopping 20 years old) and currently serving as the webmaster for the Troma Films fansite, Tromatized!, this knowing neophyte wanted to find a way to turn his love of horror and humor into a successful narrative combo. Along with his partners in motion picture crime, Joshua Lively and Zane Crosby (Channell writes and directs, while his buddies act onscreen and occasionally contribute to the scripts) he has turned the world of the living dead and the bloodsucking basics of Dracula's domain into the post-modern equivalent of an Abbott and Costello romp. |

Punk Rock Holocaust 2 (Jan 31 2008 22:30 GMT) - Highly Recommended The Product: As stated in the review of the original Punk Rock Holocaust, horror and hardcore seem like a perfect match. Each represents the outside edge of their respective mediums, and while many can argue that there are universal elements involved, it is clear that not everyone embraces these entertainment extremes. No, it takes a true type of enthusiast to enjoy the melding of these two totally intense concepts - and a better concern would be what such a merger would look and sound like? The answer, interestingly enough, is incredibly FUNNY! |

Pioneers of Television (Jan 31 2008 22:30 GMT) - Recommended The Movie: More whimsical nostalgia than probing documentary, PBS' Pioneers of Television is nevertheless a solid and entertaining introduction to some of TV's earliest trailblazers. It doesn't shed any light on its parade of luminaries, but boob-tube buffs are bound to enjoy the feast of archival footage and modern-day interviews. Pioneers suffers from two misguided directions. First and foremost, its four sections -- Late Night, Sitcoms, Variety and Game Shows -- treat their subject matter with blind reverence. |

Aquarium (Jan 31 2008 22:30 GMT) - Rent It The Product: It's pretty obvious that foreign filmmakers see horror in a totally different light than their Western (read: American) counterparts. To them, there is more tradition and history in the world of dread than whatever makes up the current creepshow culture. Japan, for example, relies so heavily on ghosts and the spirit world that every scary movie they make seems to be about banshees croaking horrifically while their long black hair shadows their spectral face. |
