Leafs are forced to trade. (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - The Leaf trade deadline situation has the Leafs against a fence forcing them to make a trade. This is because the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the largest fan based NHL teams in the league. Not having a monster scoring first line up like the top contenders have the leafs looking very small. The Leafs Need a fix but are in rough shape to make it no matter how desperate they are. If the leafs were to make a move and possibly trade Sundin it would not be enough alone. |

Mats Standin Tall (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - Hey Listen, it's me Gretzkin, and I know that nobody wants another Maple Leafs article and I'd rather discuss how hot Garon is in in the shootouts, how I'm really enjoying the Oilers this year as their living up to their marginal expectations, yet remaining competitive and putting on a good show, but...I' |

If you were the leafs GM would you consider talking Sundin into waiving his no trade clause? If you do who would you trade him for?I heard that teams like Detroit, Philadelphia, canucks, Flames, Pittsburgh, Dallas, and many more are interested in acquiring Sundin before or during the trade deadline. |

Charles Bronson - Death Wish 5: The Face Of Death (1994)Charles Bronson - Death Wish 5: The Face Of Death (1994) (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - Editorial Reviews Drifting as far from Michael Winner's original and interesting 1974 Death Wish as possible, this belated sequel in an often ugly series is nevertheless a harmless, fairly conventional thriller featuring a watchable cast. After his life of loss and misery at the hands of criminals, vigilante Paul Kersey is ready to settle down in romantic bliss with a fashion designer named Olivia (Lesley-Anne Down). Unfortunately, the lady happens to be the target of her mobster ex-husband (Michael Parks), who has a tight grip on New York's garment district. Disfigured and finally murdered by her former spouse, Olivia is avenged in very creative ways by Paul, who resorts to such esoterica as using a remote-controlled soccer ball to deliver an explosive punishment. Bronson largely phones it in for this potboiler, though even in the winter of his life he can look quite compelling in his stoic way. |

Michael Winner & Charles Bronson - Death Wish (1974)Michael Winner & Charles Bronson - Death Wish (1974) (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - Editorial Reviews This controversial, 1974 drama exploits urban paranoia and presents vigilantism as cathartic release. But it is also a captivating, Everyman-ish story of a New Yorker who goes through a sea change after crime depletes his family, and who runs afoul of the law while taking it into his own hands. Charles Bronson stars as the vengeance-seeking urban warrior who goes on a punk-killing spree after his wife and daughter are attacked by intruders. Director Michael Winner (The Wicked Lady) shamelessly builds upon audience identification with Bronson's rage, but he also makes an interesting story out of the latter's tug-of-war with disapproving police. It's an unpleasant film all around, but not nearly as bad as its horrifying, numerous sequels. |

Steven Spielberg - The Adventures of Indiana Jones (1981 - 1989)Steven Spielberg - The Adventures of Indiana Jones (1981 - 1989) (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - Editorial Reviews As with Star Wars, the George Lucas-produced Indiana Jones trilogy was not just a plaything for kids but an act of nostalgic affection toward a lost phenomenon: the cliffhanging movie serials of the past. Episodic in structure and with fate hanging in the balance about every 10 minutes, the Jones features tapped into Lucas's extremely profitable Star Wars formula of modernizing the look and feel of an old, but popular, story model. Steven Spielberg directed all three films, which are set in the late 1930s and early '40s: the comic book-like Raiders of the Lost Ark, the spooky, Gunga Din-inspired Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the cautious but entertaining Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. |

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Season 3, Vol. 2 (1967)Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Season 3, Vol. 2 (1967) (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - Editorial Reviews In its second season, Irwin Allen's science-fiction-adventure series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea shifted its tone from a mostly serious program based around stories of Cold War intrigue to an out-and-out fantasy show, complete with monsters, ghosts, and time travel. By the launch of its third season (1966-67), that format was firmly in place (solidified, no doubt, by the success of Allen's similarly themed Lost in Space and The Time Tunnel, which were also running at the same time), and the crew of the Seaview battled all manner of bizarre creatures over the course of the 13 episodes compiled in this three-disc set, including werewolves, radioactive plant creatures, dinosaurs, scores of aliens, and even a spook or two. Critics and first-season Voyage fans have decried these episodes for decades, but there's no denying that their child-like charms remain intact, even as the special effects age most ungracefully; highlights, such as they were, for the first half of season 3 include "Werewolf" |

Darren Aronofsky - Requiem for a Dream (Directors Cut) (2000)Darren Aronofsky - Requiem for a Dream (Directors Cut) (2000) (Feb 01 2008 03:24 GMT) - Editorial Reviews Employing shock techniques and sound design in a relentless sensory assault, Requiem for a Dream is about nothing less than the systematic destruction of hope. Based on the novel by Hubert Selby Jr., and adapted by Selby and director Darren Aronofsky, this is undoubtedly one of the most effective films ever made about the experience of drug addiction (both euphoric and nightmarish), and few would deny that Aronofsky, in following his breakthrough film Pi, has pushed the medium to a disturbing extreme, thrusting conventional narrative into a panic zone of traumatized psyches and bodies pushed to the furthest boundaries of chemical tolerance. It's too easy to call this a cautionary tale; it's a guided tour through hell, with Aronofsky as our bold and ruthless host. |
