i-No iPod game (should be iKnow, but who are we to pick holes) (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - This sounds fun. You stick your iPod in the i-No game, and then use your colour coded remote control to buzz in and guess the name of the tune and the artist, playing against your friends. It's not anything you couldn't do with your iPod on Shuffle and docked in a stereo, as far as I can tell, but is licensed by Apple, should that be important to you. |

Shiny Poll: Where's the Facebook line? (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - Picture the scene: I've just updated my Facebook status with last night's escapades, tagged myself in several compromising photos and deleted one friend whose Christmas card list I probably won't be on this year. And then I check my friend request and have a new one. From my father. |

Currys leaves patio heaters out in the cold (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - Sorry - that title was all a bit Daily Mirror, wasn't it... The gist is basically that Currys, the electrical retailer, has decided to stop selling patio heaters, in light of new evidence that they're making the environment extremely unhappy. It's already been implemented online, and now they're not taking any further orders on the high street stores. |

Garmin nüvifone GPS mobile announced (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - Garmin's GPS-packing mobile, the nüvifone, has been announced. The actual device won't be available until the autumn at an undisclosed price with undisclosed partners. Nevertheless, the spec sounds promising and as GPS is increasingly integrated into phones we can only assume that plenty more sat nav manufacturers will be on the case with similar gadgets soon. |

A headbanging alarm clock? Ten truly useless inventions (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - After the peaks of CES, Macworld and last Thursday's mental camerafest, news is a little slow at the moment. So perhaps it's time to think of all the gadgets you're glad you haven't got. Times Online has compiled a list of the ten most useless inventions of the 19th and 20th Century. This includes some with wonderfully Leonard of Quirm names, such as the "device for waking persons from sleep". |

Alexandra Roumbas: My favourite wastes of time... (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - But you can call me Alex. Writing for the web has its perks - being on Facebook a couple of times a day is practically mandatory - but it also means a bookmark list the length of the average country's electoral roll. And I still only visit the same old handful of sites, but I love them dearly. And here are ten of them. If you think your list is better - as it undoubtedly is - don't forget to email Susi with it and we'll make you famous. |

Pavlovian "Tone Correction" for annoying dogs (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - I can't help thinking this sounds a little cruel, but it must have passed SOME test or other, so I'm going to assume this is absolutely fine, safe and dandy for your pooch. One option is vodka, but an altogether more healthy one is some of those clever Seasonal Affective Disorder lights, which mimic daylight, so you can get more sunlight during the day. Katie and I tried out the SAD lamp and an alarm which aims to wake you up with light, rather than an abrasive noise. Both are from Philips. |

3 and the RCA get friendly over mobile handsets of the future (Feb 01 2008 05:45 GMT) - Royal College of Art students were set an industrial design challenge by 3 Mobile; they had to deisgn the handset of the future. While some of the prototype designs weren't quite enough to have Apple nervous, others were elegant designs that suggested clever use of likely future technologies. I picked out my favourites as we pottered around, but you can check out these and other design projects at the RCA from today. |
