How Open Source Has Influenced Windows Server 2008 (Feb 29 2008 18:02 GMT) - willdavid writes to tell us that Sam Ramji over at Port25 has a nice succinct list of the major open source principles that have been used while developing Windows Server 2008. "Overall, we've learned and continue to learn from open source development principles. These are making their way into the mindset, development practices, and ultimately into the products we bring to market. I've focused here on 'what Microsoft has learned from Open Source' - and ironically, I've agreed to do a panel at OSBC on 3/25 with Jim Zemlin of the Linux Foundation on 'what Open Source can learn from Microsoft'. As all of the different organizations in IT continue to evolve, we'll learn from each others' best practices and make increasingly better software. |

Spry Ratings Widget (Feb 29 2008 18:01 GMT) - The release of Spry 1.6.1 didn't ensure the continued support for Adobe AIR but also came with a new widget called the ratings widget. A little Ajax widget with some potential to be entirely over-used at least by me. As with most Spry widgets its ridiculously easy to use and setup. |

Going to the CeBIT to talk about wikis (Feb 29 2008 18:00 GMT) - I'm going to be at the CeBIT in Hanover next week for a couple of conferences, and a big focus on enterprise wikis with business cases from two of my clients: on Tuesday at the Enterprise 2.0 Summit, Cédric Blum from SFR Service Client is going to present how they use a wiki in the context of customer help on Wednesday at the Forum Content Management Arena@CeBIT, I'll be presenting the wiki I did for Publicis Consultants Both wikis were done using Confluence from Atlassian. You'll have another opportunity to hear about those two business cases in June in Paris, during the Atlassian User Group Paris that we're co-organizing with Publicis Consultants and Atlassian.
