Lily Pons Clear Pickle Dish, Indiana Glass - $11.00 (Feb 29 2008 22:39 GMT) - This clear pickle dish by Indiana Glass has two tab handles and a highly detailed design of leaves and flowers. The pattern is named for French opera singer Lily Pons, who debuted in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York in January 1931 and quickly became the darling of operatic theater. It was produced in clear glass in the 1930s and reintroduced in colored and iridized glass in the 1980s. The floral design of the dish mimics the water lily and pads, to create a none-too-subtle play on words with Lily Pond. The serving dish is 4. |
