Why Surprises Still Lurk After Enron (Mar 01 2008 23:58 GMT) - Why Surprises Still Lurk After Enron - Surprises multiplied as the subprime problem of 2007 grew into the credit disruption of 2008. It is one thing to have a bank report losses because some of the loans on its balance sheet went bad. That is part of the business of banking. It is something else, however, for a bank to report a multibillion-dollar loss from taking some risk that had never been mentioned in its financial statements. From Danomil |

Buckley and Reagan: The Qualities of Conservative Greatness (Mar 01 2008 23:58 GMT) - Buckley and Reagan: The Qualities of Conservative Greatness - The first common characteristic is that both men were devoutly religious -- it is impossible to think of either man without soon noting the importance of God in the biography. Buckley's first book, God and Man at Yale, wrote about the absence of God from universities: who else then would have even noticed Yet Buckley, a deeply religious man, realized that all political problems are ultimately moral problems, and all moral problems ultimately religious problems. The attempt to expunge God from politics, therefore, was the first step toward totalitarianism and the sort moldy social jelly that it Europe today. |

Re: Spell Checker not working (Mar 01 2008 23:57 GMT) - I know this solution is going to sound dumb, but it works. I am running MSN with Vista32 and Office 2007 and also had the spell check issue. I remembered having a dictionary error back with xp and office 2007 with msn and remembered that in order to fix it I had to install a dictionary (obviously). I remembered that when it was asking for a dictionary it kept prompting for my Microsoft Digital Imaging Suite 10 Disk and that is what fixed it before. So Lo and behold I decided to reinstall Digital Imaging Suite 10 into Vista and it fixed the spelll check issue. |
