Apple rumored getting Immersion?s tactile feedback tech (Apr 28 2008 06:59 GMT) - While everything on the 3G iPhone front is still quiet, the latest rumors see Apple's handheld getting a few updates in the future, one of them coming from Immersion Corporation. Apparently, Apple is planning to license Immersion's Haptic Technology and use it on the iPhone so as it would offer tactile feedback. Haptic technology, which is already in use in quite a few touch-screen-equipped mobile phones makes the device react to the user's interaction by vibrating of applying pressure, thus giving a "response" signaling that the action performed, the key pressed and so on and so forth, was registered. RIM?s touchscreen Blackberry deemed the ?Apple Killer? (Apr 28 2008 06:59 GMT) - Just the like the iPod before it, Apple's iPhone is now getting assassination threats as manufacturers try to offer devices that would blow the locked and not so loaded fruity device out of the water. One smartphone maker that is willing to take a swing is RIM, which is still rumored as working on a touch-screen-equipped Blackberry which is supposed to be called the A.K or "Apple killah" (read killer). Offering a touchscreen device would be a major change from the keyboard models and some are questioning whether it would be as popular and easy to use as today's Blackberries. Apparently RIM is not about to compromise much when it comes to the usability of the new device so it may still be quite a while before seeing the AK launched. |
