No, Nintendo is not dropping the price on the Wii or DS - engadget.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - Filed under: GamingWaiting for a price drop on the Nintendo Wii or DS? Don't hold your breath. Nintendo's Satoru Iwata told analysts on Friday that there are no price drop plans for the hot-selling units. Iwata insisted this is because Nintendo doesn't want to annoy those who already paid full price, but it's pretty clear that there's also just no need to drop the price on something that's already selling like mad. |

Apple i Keynote Parody is Spot On [Humor] - gizmodo.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - College Humor is running a parody of Steve in Keynote mode, we know it isn't the first or won't be the last, but it has some of the Steve's actions, crowd reactions and the overall atmosphere pretty much down to perfection. On top of all that, it does a good job at making us laugh—just look at the damn product description! The sketch even includes a commercial demonstration, and the whole clip is quality through and through. Hit the link for the video and then let us know if you'd be first in line to purchase the i. |

Creative Zen Goes Pink - ubergizmo.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - Somehow, pink products seem to be constantly released even if women have already stated their preference that turning something pink won't help them make up their mind on a purchase decision all the time, especially when the device is a turkey itself. Creative isn't going to go against the grain with its Zen though, where a pink 2GB unit retails for $69.99 from Wal Mart. Strangely enough, the pink Zen isn't even available from Creative's own online store. This would go down well with your pink DS Lite, pink RAZR and pink iPod. |

SIM Recovery Pro - ubergizmo.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - Have you ever accidentally delete a text message from your SIM card that you wish you could retrieve later on, but can't? Fret not - the SIM Recovery Pro is one device that is able to do so. I suppose there is also a nefarious use for the SIM Recovery Pro as well, used by suspicious partners who want to know whether their other half has been secretly deleting text messages from their respective lovers without the married partner knowing. Other than snooping around, the SIM Recovery Pro makes a great backup SIM card reader. With the ability to program SIM cards to call only a certain number, this is also useful when it comes to controlling your kids' cell phone usage. |

Azoo Eco-Desk Puts a Self-Cleaning Aquarium in Your Desk [Design] - gizmodo.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - I'm pretty sure Missy Elliot had something similar to Azoo's Eco-Desk, which has a self-cleaning tropical fish aquarium contained within a glass and aluminum body. Alas, hers was made by Lamborghini, so this is the poor man's / international female hip-hop star's iteration, but it's still a bit of cool for your apartment. The glass top rests on a hinged support, which can be pulled open to allow Nemo to escape back home, or better yet, add some company to the captives inside. The aquarium contains Azoo's solution for biological, water and temperature control, meaning you don't have to worry about anything other than why your Coi Carp look so damn uncomfortable. If you have to ask about pricing, well, you know the deal. |

RIM Wants To Compete With iPhone - ubergizmo.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - RIM apparently has a product in the making known as AK - which obviously enough, stands for "Apple Killer". It will, of course be a touch screen device and RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis let fire his salvo, "I couldn't type on [the iPhone] and I still can't type on it, and a lot of my friends can't type on it. It's hard to type on a piece of glass." It would be interesting to see what kind of BlackBerry that will end up as. I know the consumers are just going to so love such competition. |

RIM developing "Apple Killer" touchscreen BlackBerry? - engadget.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - Filed under: CellphonesThe times has a verbose 2,000 word piece about the high stakes world of high-end cellphone manufacturers (no way!), specifically centered around RIM's post-iPhone trials and tribulations. Besides a bit of vague lip service paid to the 9000 series, they're claiming that two 3rd party developers -- no sources cited -- leaked that RIM has a skunkworks product dubbed "AK" (which stands for "Apple Killer"), and that apparently it'll be touchscreen. And then comes the tub-thumping money shot from co-CEO Mike Lazaridis: |

Bioplastics: Environmentally Unfriendly, Contributing To The Food Crisis [Bioplastics] - gizmodo.com (Apr 28 2008 08:45 GMT) - About those bioplastic bags - you know, the ones you've been using to assuage your eco-conscious guilt - turns out not only are they not as green as you think, they could also be partially responsible for the global food crisis. A worldwide effort by bag-heavy industries to replace petroleum-based plastics with plant-based plastics could actually lead to more environmental problems, according to a study by the Guardian UK. The bags, made from sugarcane, corn or wheat, can increase greenhouse gas emissions because they require higher temperatures to decompose. Even the biodegradable versions don't disintegrate as planned when thrown into the anaerobic environment of a landfill. The lack of oxygen causes the bags to release methane, which is ... |
