Access Reports from Word (May 06 2008 13:56 GMT) - In future, Access data should be seamlessly presentable in other Office products. The Word tool in the reporting function only returns RTF format, so you lose all formatting. Users should be able to view their data in Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, but alas, this is not the case. I have spent a week trying to get financial numbers from Access to appear in a Word report, and the numbers come up with a dozen decimals and no "$" symbol. This, after having to leard OBDC coding. |

Convicted Ex-School Official Still Gets State Pension (May 06 2008 13:56 GMT) - Even though he's serving a jail sentence, cleaning prison bathrooms, for stealing millions from the Roslyn schools district, it's certainly nice to be Frank Tassone, knowing that he still gets his $173,495 annual NY State pension. Newsday reports that he and other former Roslyn officials still get their considerable pensions, even while serving jail time. Tassone, who notoriously stole $2.2 million for a lavish lifestyle (he did pay back the money, but it's unclear if his pension helped with that), is guaranteed his pension for life, thanks to a state law that says, per Newsday, "a public employee is entitled to a state pension for his or her years of service, those retirement benefits cannot be diminished or taken away, even after a felony conviction." Some Republican lawmakers' attempts to change that have been shot down by employee unions, in spite of this point from State Assemblyman Daniel Burling: |

I was tired of living week to week , but the search went on! (May 06 2008 13:56 GMT) - Paycheck to paycheck gets real old after a while, but if we cave in and not change the way we think about things, we will never focus on finding opportunity and will lose faith in ourselves. Most of us are so tired of struggling, we can't enjoy life! If you start to focus on getting out of that rut of working for nothing, you can begin to create financial freedom and get rid of that pattern of just making it by. |
