Re: High HDD Activity after Startup (May 14 2008 12:59 GMT) - I sort of stumbled upon this forum, and although I'm pretty savvy about Windows in general, Vista is somewhat of a new beast to me, so thanks for this forum! The same type of thing (constant hard drive access) has happened to me, but it seemed to happen after the last Windows Update (did it install SP1? Don't know) and after I performed the tweak listed in the Tutorials section to allow Windows to use the L2 Cache on my processor. I am not sure if either one of those is the culprit, but when I opened Process Monitor I noticed that the drive is being accessed by "System", PID 4, and it seems to be writing multiple megabytes of data to the disk. After a few minutes it settles down, but in the meantime my touchpad is jerky, and after it seems to settle down it starts back up when I launch a program. |

Report Query Conundrum (May 14 2008 12:59 GMT) - I have 4 circuits that I record outages for in a single table. Every week a report is created that lists the activity for each circuit. If there is no outage, I want the report to say 'none' for the times of the outage, 0 for the minutes out, 0 for the total # of outages, and 100% availability. The query I run only gives me results when there is an outage on a circuit. How do I get this information to appear in a report? |
