California, United States - Transforming the mind (Jun 30 2008 04:30 GMT) - 28 June 08 Its difficult to write about whats happening when most of whats happening is in my mind. The book store had a sale with so many interesting books at half price that I could not resist. So, I've had my nose in my new books a lot of my spare time. Sometimes I take a book up to the Enchanted forest where there is a hammock and I lie there under the huge redwood trees and read and when I stop reading to reflect I look up and see these trunks going up and up and up and all meeting at the top. |

Sydney, Australia - Stone the crows, its Alf Stewart! (Jun 30 2008 04:30 GMT) - With our time in Melbourne finished we hit the road/air again, our first destination being Sydney. The weather in Sydney was slightly better than Melbourne, at least it didnt rain while we were there, though when we went to Bondi beach it was freezing and blowing a gale! We had a look around Bondi markets, where the stalls were nearly taking off!, but we didnt stay long so we went to circular quay, home of the opera house and harbour bridge. The opera house lived up to all expectations and was spectacular to look at, it wasnt as brilliant white as expected though, more creamy, here we bumped into another national rugby team (Ireland in Melbourne and New Zealand way back in Heathrow on 8 October). |

We piled on every article of warm clothing we'd brought (ski gear, down jackets, lots of long underwear), laced up our boots and strapped on our headlamps. |

Dublin, Ireland - Flight and fright (Jun 30 2008 04:30 GMT) - First of all, we are in Dublin, safe, tired and full. Our flights were okay. We took a Zoom flight from Montreal to Gatwick. We had spent an extra 15$ a pop for reserved seating so we could all sit together. We then got given different seats and somehow, magically, our reserved seats were already taken. |

Byron Bay, Australia - We're having a whale of a time... (Jun 30 2008 04:30 GMT) - We made it to Port Macquarie by lunchtime on Wednesday. Our YHA hostel minivan was there to pick us up which was very nice and unexpected AND neccessary when we saw the hill we would have had to have walked up! We had time to meet our room mate Gary (whose name we didn't find out for another 3 days so we named him Scot... he was from Edinburgh) and made our beds and then we were off on foot to the Koala Hospital. |
