The Right Honourable David Cameron MP, leader of the opposition, recently visited the National Memorial Arboretum. He joined veterans and other visitors for the Act of Remembrance in the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness before laying a wreath within the Armed Forces Memorial. The Memorial commemorates the 16,000 servicemen and women who have died on duty or as result of terrorism since the end of the Second World War. Mr Cameron then toured some of the 150 acres of wooded parkland and took time to look at some of the many other memorials and gardens within the Arboretum. He later spoke to members of the Birmingham Branch of the Burma Star Association and spent some time examining the Burma and Sumatra Railway memorials and touring the Far East Prisoners of War centre.

Torrential rain has caused widespread flooding across Northern Ireland, with rivers bursting their banks, landslides and roads cut off. Coastguard Rescue Teams from South Down have helped people from their homes and provided sand bags to others. They were also involved in securing yachts and other boats in Kilkeel Harbour as well as many other tasks carried out in support of our civil contingencies partners. Coastguard teams in the South of the Province were also augmented by equipment and team members from Bangor Coast Rescue team. That's News.

At 4.20 pm today Swansea Coastguard received a call that a 20 year old Chinese man on a day trip from London had been seen heading out to Worms Head earlier in the afternoon and had not been seen since lunchtime. A description was given of what he was wearing. Rhossili Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to the area to begin a search and Horton inshore lifeboat was asked to launch. A rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor was also scrambled.

Carrier bag use by Tesco shoppers in the last month is 40% lower than for the same period two years ago.Throughout the month of July in 2006, Tesco gave its customers approximately 350 million single-use carrier bags.
