Zagg InvisibleShield

(May 25 2009 20:12 GMT)
Currently 50% off, today only. If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone then you really have to buy one of these. I can’t tell you how many times it’s saved my screen from getting scratched.

Table has crashed

(May 25 2009 16:23 GMT)
OK so I checked CR this morning and the site worked but had no content. So I went into panic mode, got myself a coffee (decafe) and chatted about the weather for a bit. It’s lovely and sunny, thanks for asking. Then tried to find out what was going on.

CreationRobot Update

(May 19 2009 18:01 GMT)
I’m going to spring clean the backend server that hosts CreationRobot. It’s long overdue and the latest spanner that the server has thrown me is preventing me from editing old posts. Pretty frustraiting.

New Plugin: IntenseDebate

(May 06 2009 21:00 GMT)
Just installed intense debate, a plugin that connects your blog to other social sites, facebook, flickr, twitter and so on. Has anyone used this plugin and seen if it is effective? My profile on intense debate is http://intensedebate. com/people/jackdaw.

Hubble Sees a UFO

(May 06 2009 16:44 GMT)
You still don’t believe in UFOs? Well I do, in the literal sense. As in, a lot of stuff we just cannot identify, which means in simple terms it is undentified. If the unidentified object happens to be flying, then it is a UFO.

Space is Screaming

(May 05 2009 20:59 GMT)
Space is screaming - It’s some 6 times louder in space than anyone predicted. In the words of Alan Kogut from the Goddard Space Center, “The universe really threw us a curve. Instead of the faint signal we hoped to find, here was this booming ‘

Code the CIA can?t crack

(May 04 2009 16:26 GMT)
Really nice post over on Wired today, covering art and encryption all in one. I may be strange but that is a nice thing to run across first thing in the morning. Read through it, it’s worth it. The most celebrated inscription at the Central Intelligence Agency’

The PAX 2008 write up

(Sep 10 2008 19:30 GMT)
PAXing it up in 2008 So to do PAX 2008 I left the land of snow and went across the water to Seattle for the full three days. This was my first PAX, but not my first convention. I?ve been to quite a few conventions, mostly in my professional capacity, so I knew what to expect. [...

The My Documents Laptop Sleeve

(Sep 10 2008 19:00 GMT)
It’s silly but you are hardly likely to either lose it or mistake your laptop sleeve for someone else’s. I kind of like this but know that I wouldn’t buy it.

Underground Lakes and Rivers

(Sep 10 2008 18:00 GMT)
Nice photos, terribly written article. See the comments section for many corrections. I’ve been to Cheddar Gorge and a couple of other caves in the UK, and in Majorca. Link Tags:

May I Offer You My Calling Card?

(Sep 10 2008 16:46 GMT)
I’ve been talking about doing my own calling card for ages and now it seems it’s gone mainstream. Damn my procrastination! Oh well.

Managing Software Licenses on OS X

(Aug 27 2008 16:25 GMT)
I have a lot of software that I’ve bought over the years. Yes really, bought. It’s becoming a pain to know where all that licence information is.

Ping Services for your Blog

(Aug 14 2008 18:46 GMT)
Why Ping? Well it promotes your blog, well your blog post, to a wider readership. So it’s worth doing, as I’m assuming that you want people to read what you are writing.

Review of Zagg invisibleSHIELD for iPhone

(Aug 14 2008 18:11 GMT)
So when I got my iPhone I knew that I’d order the Zagg invisibleSHIELD sticker to protect it. These clear stickers are tough and protect your iPhone (or laptop or whatever) from everyday scratches, like when you’d put your iPhone in your pocket with your car keys. The US military use these stickers on some [...

Fixing the TomTom GO 720 Yellow Screen of Death

(Aug 11 2008 21:21 GMT)
Own a TomTom? Ever had the Yellow Screen of Death? That no boot-up-screen with the red cross in it, it basically means that until you fix the software on your TomTom it is dead. It’s not bricked, as it is fixable.

Garmin 350 Stolen, Need New GPS

(Aug 11 2008 17:29 GMT)
So my Garmin Nuvi 350 was stolen last night, so I need to get a new GPS system for my car. I’m considering the TomTom GO 730 or 720. The GO 720 is so much cheaper, does the 730 really offer anything extra for the price difference? Anyone actually used these units?

Best OS X Applications 2008

(Aug 10 2008 16:31 GMT)
I’m in the process of rebuilding my Mac after reinstalling OS X Leopard. I’d messed the last install up using monolingual and stripping out the PPC code. OS X does not like that and I don’

Rainbow LED Keyboard

(Aug 06 2008 16:02 GMT)
Luxeed’s LED keyboard can light up your life. If not your life then your desktop. For some of us that’s the same thing, right?

CR Goes iPhone Friendly

(Aug 04 2008 01:17 GMT)
I’ve added a couple of plugins that help the site be used more easily on the iPhone, and other mobile browsers. It’s a big improvement to the old way I was doing this. I’
