News: Magnum Opus

Tycho : I was able to coax Gabriel into hauling in his Playstation 3, where (upon launching LittleBigPlanet) we began humanity's greatest working. In truth, no coaxing was actually required. He is as vigorous a proponent of the game as exists anywhere, in any nation on earth, or even among those creatures who drift on the cold breath of stars. He'll talk your fucking ass off.

Gabe : This year at PAX we featured a hand full of really awesome independent games and we called it the PAX 10. We received a ton of entries and whittling

Tycho : We managed to get a LittleBigPlanet key, without the use of divination I might add, which is expressly forbidden in Deuteronomy 18:9-11. I should be clear: when I say that "we" managed to get a key, what I mean to say is that "Gabriel" got a key, which he clutched close like an evil ring, and then scuttled home to install.

News: two things

(Oct 03 2008 16:43 GMT)
Gabe : The demand for a print of Wednesday's comic minus the text was so great that we really had no choice but to deliver. You can find it right here. We were on vacation when it happened so I didn't get a chance to mention it but, Jack Thompson was disbarred on my birthday. Oh Jack, you didn't have to get me anything.

Tycho : In my mind, when you open a casket of Gamer Grub, a single white larva the size of a football throbs inside. Because they are purchased in these little silos, I assumed it was a beverage at first, which made the prospect of their Racing Wasabi flavor (Wasabi Soy Almonds and Peanuts, Wasabi Peas, Honey Mustard Sesame Sticks, etc.) a truly horrifying concept. But, no.

News: Cool Stuff

(Oct 01 2008 17:05 GMT)
Gabe : People sometimes give me really awesome stuff at PAX. I get stuffed animals, sculptures, poems, pins and all kinds of other cool stuff. One of the coolest things I received at this years show was an incredible pixel art painting of Kid Icarus from a reader named Woody. I was so impressed with the workmanship that I immediately commissioned a PAC-Man piece from the artist.

News: Dr. Horrible, Etc.

(Jul 19 2008 00:12 GMT)
Tycho : I didn't post a link to it because I see links to it everywhere, and you've already seen it anyway, because you're a cool person who is perpetually in the know.  Even so, I couldn't take the chance, because the one thing most links to Dr. Horrible don't include is a dire warning about its ephemeral nature.

Tycho : You've seen the video referred to by the strip, of course. The craft is one thing, and the articulations especially are noteworthy. What really sets the presentation apart, though, is his frame by frame, physical recreation of each item's animation. That's what elevates it beyond merely a source of lunchbreak entertainment and into the realm of fascination and mystery.

Tycho : Here, let me save you some time. No doubt the proprietors of Ladies' Home Journal were breathless during Nintendo's presentation, but those outside of that august body may derive less enjoyment. This is the deep-dish, delicious irony endured by the Nintendo stalwart: to see their platform of choice ascendant, even as their bright God turns his face away.

News: hey

(Jul 14 2008 17:53 GMT)
Gabe : I got a lot of mail from people asking if we would be making prints of the Paint the Line series. I guess I only mentioned it once so it shouldn't surprise me that some people don't know that you can purchase a print of almost any comic in the archive. Just look for the "buy a print" button underneath the comic strip. Since PTL was such a popular storyline and there are so many comics in it, we've put together a special package for people looking to pick up the entire series.

News: The Wheat/Chaff Ratio

(Jul 14 2008 07:00 GMT)
Tycho : Warhammer Online saw a few deep cuts in content, designed to ensure a launch that would a) be something they could be proud of, and b) occur in the Year of our Lord two-thousand and eight. Cutting four classes and four capital cities seems pretty grisly, but without playing the game in its current state I don't know what that actually represents. For cities, I guess i'd have to see it. I do know that there's still twenty other classes, so...

Gabe : The live stream will be starting at 2:30, so in just about 40 minutes. If you can't make the live shows but you still want to see the comic get drawn you can always hit the Ustream site here. I record and upload most of the shows.

News: More stuff

(Jun 27 2008 21:11 GMT)
Gabe : I guess this is just like post day or something. I'll try and put everything else I want to mention into one post here. Our store now has Penny Arcade book 5. This one kicks off with a very nice introduction from Wil Wheaton and then covers all our comics from 2004.

News: Wallpapers

(Jun 27 2008 18:48 GMT)
Gabe : The next installment of our epic D&D adventure is now online. People really seem to like Jim Darkmagic so I made a wallpaper based on the art for today's podcast. Click for the high res I also had a lot of requests for a wallpaper based on the Deepcrow poster we'll have at Comic Con.

News: Cuts From The Official Soundtrack

(Jun 27 2008 18:43 GMT)
Tycho :     Paint The Line '88 and Paint The Line (Ballad) Both were done by Kris Straub, who tells me that the first track is "for the opening credits," while the second "is for right after the high-five in front of the explosion."

News: Episode 2

(Jun 27 2008 18:42 GMT)
Gabe : I don't know if it's the summer break or what but I've been getting a lot of mail from people who are just now trying out our game. Many of them end with questions about episode 2 and it's release date. I can't say for sure when it will be done but I can say that my work on it is pretty much complete and I've actually started sketching and visualizing some of the elements in episode 3. I've also had a few people ask about moving their character from episode 1 to episode 2.
